I live in Bowie..and did container gardening this summer with eggplant, 2 kinds of tomatoes. Loved it....what can I plant now that will survive the fall months?
Thanks.
It is too late to plant vegetables in containers outdoors. If you had no disease problems this past season, you can reuse the potting soil or dump in your garden or woods. If you reuse it, store in plastic bags or a trashcan. Don't leave exposed to the elements. You may need to fertilize more frequently the second year because many of the nutrients have been used by the plants or leached out the first season. Also, organic media weathers over time causing a decrease in particle size and pore space. See our publication on container vegetable gardening http://www.hgic.umd.edu/content/documents/hg600.pdf
